This basis of this project deals with analyzing and looking at ‘contemporary photography’ through semiotics by breaking elements into aesthetic, discursive, and referential levels. After careful consideration, Robert Frank's photography, “Butte, Montana” (1955), was chosen as the main subject and Raghubir Singh's “Pilgrim” (1989) as it's contemporary counterpart. These photographs inspired various typographic exercises, essays, and infographics. And as a result, two visual essays, one referential infographic, and one photograph were created. Printed on 22"x34" matte paper.
